This is the leaflet we made to educate people about the Frogs day :) Thank you SITH 2010 for being so eager in helping and contributing ideas and actions for the sake of frogs :D I totally love people with young and overloaded spirit! because it’s contagious! Since we’re young, we should do many things like this without even thinking about what this would actually contribute to the protection of frogs in reality, but just start doing and taking actions! Anyway, educating is, of course, a part of conservation, right? How will people start acting when they’re not well informed? ;)
-think big, do small, start now. instead of think big, wanting to do big, and start later…just do all you can, when you can :D
finally I’m in the mood to post something..I write a. lot. in my journal, or phone, or twitter :P but I don’t post a lot. Well you know that confidence-issue.
Ok the thing is, yesterday is actuallyyyy Save The Frogs Day!! Held officially on April 28th, and this year is the 4th annual yaaaayyy :D
Why do we hold such a day? Well apparently, not many people are aware that frogs are disappearing from this earth!! People casually eat frogs, pet endangered frogs, use pesticide and indirectly kill frogs…how cruel :( As for pesticides, they contain the most toxic substances that could harm any living frogs nearby.. Pesticides can transport through the flow of water in a river and settle on the river bottom where most amphibians and other creatures live. Frogs breathe air through its skin, and because it has a very permeable skin with high intensity of absorption, the toxic substances contained in pesticide can lead to hermaphroditism (male growing female sex organs) and malformation of the limbs (change in body structure especially limbs). Because the use of pesticides are rarely being tested in amphibians, it eventually dramatically decreases the number of frogs in a particular place. More than half the DNA found in frogs are also found in human! So imagine what the pesticides could do to our own body. Frogs are considered an accurate bioindicator for environmental stress. So when they start to extinct, we, humans should get alarmed because it’s a sign that something is terribly going wrong in the environment. Naturally, the extinction rate of frogs is one species per 250 year. But, so far, there are already 200 species of frogs that went extinct!!! How sad :”(
And it is even sadder when you still turn your back on this issue :( If you do not know what to do about this, I suggest you, at least, do a research regarding frogs extinction and help spread the words in order to educate the public on this matter :) Let’s start saving the frogs! Save the frogs, Save the world!!
